PMA appeal to print and electronic media

KARACHI: Executive Committee of the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Karachi has appealed to the media, both print and electronic, to ascertain facts before filing any report or airing any programme.

In a joint statement on Monday the executive members of PMA Karachi Chapter said that they strongly support freedom of the press, however, it has to be protected with responsibility and fairness.

They in this context condemned a local television channel for airing a programme against a senior gynaecologist and obstetrician of Karachi. “The manner in which the programme was presented was most unprofessional and unethical,” alleged the PMA executive committee members. The PMA version should have been taken in this regard, the statement added.
