The federal government on September 12 appointed BS-20 officer Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi as Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), transferring him from his position as Inspector General of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police.
According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division, Rizvi’s appointment takes immediate effect under Section 29(3) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, as amended in 2025, and Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act 1973. He will serve as NCCIA director general for a non-extendable three-year term.
Rizvi had been serving as ICT Police IG since March 29, 2024. Meanwhile, Captain (retd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry, a Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) officer currently serving in the Punjab government, has been appointed as the new ICT Police IG.
