Pakistan Press Foundation

On May 24, a meeting was chaired by Muhammad Imran, the Director General of Information and Public Relations for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with representatives from the All Pakistan Newspaper Society (APNS), the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE), and several advertising agencies.

The key focus of the discussions was the resolution of previous arrears owed to newspapers and advertising agencies, a recurring issue that has strained relations within the media industry in Pakistan. Attendees included Pir Haroon Shah and Tahir Farooq, provincial heads of APNS and CPNE respectively, along with Deputy Director Advertisement, Ibn-e-Amin, and other pertinent officials.

This meeting follows recommendations from the Implementation Tribunal for Newspaper Employees (ITNE) Islamabad to the Information Department, proposing a thorough reconciliation process with media outlets to settle the outstanding debts.

DG Imran detailed the department’s ongoing work to address arrears, including practical steps and reconciliation with available resources. He assured participants that the department is actively securing funds and clearing outstanding debts.

Shah and Farooq expressed satisfaction with the department’s efforts and optimism for positive outcomes regarding media outlets’ liabilities.
