Pakistani Journalist Kamal Siddiqi Honored with Prestigious Journalism Award
On June 24, the prominent Pakistani journalist Kamal Siddiqi was honored with the Journalists of Courage and Impact Award at the East-West Media Conference. The biennial award, given by the East-West Center (EWC), recognizes outstanding contributions to journalism and unwavering commitment to press freedom.
Siddiqi, the first Pakistani journalist to receive this award, is renowned for his extensive print, digital, and broadcast media work. He has also fostered journalistic excellence through media education and training.
The EWC acknowledged Siddiqi’s dedication to upholding journalistic integrity and advocating for press freedom, stating that his work inspires journalists in Pakistan and beyond.
In addition to the award, Siddiqi was recognized as one of EWC’s “Journalists of Courage and Impact” for his contributions to journalism in Pakistan and the region and his unwavering support for EWC media alumni. He has also been invited to join a plenary panel at the International Media Conference to discuss the challenges of reporting elections in Asia.Currently associated with AAJ News, Siddiqi’s impressive career includes roles as the former editor of The Express Tribune and previous associations with The News and Dawn.
