PEMRA Bans Media Coverage of Ongoing Court Cases
On May 21, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) banned media coverage of ongoing court cases. The ban applies to all television channels and radio stations.
PEMRA stated that channels cannot air material about court cases until a final verdict is reached. They also banned expressing opinions on these cases and discussing them in a way that could influence investigations.
PEMRA said that only information necessary for the public will be allowed to be aired.
