PPF Seminar Advocates for Establishment of Journalists’ Protection Commission
On June 13, the Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) organized a seminar in Abbottabad to advocate for establishing of the Commission for journalists’ protection in Pakistan mandated under the Protection of Journalists and Other Media Professionals Act 2021.
The seminar brought together journalists, media representatives, civil society members, human rights organizations, legal representatives, law enforcement officers, and members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
Trainer Lala Hassan and organizer Naveed Akram Abbasi told participants about the significance of joint efforts’ in establishing the Commission.
PML-N Member of Provincial Assembly Amina Sardar expressed confidence in the provincial assembly’s role in supporting the rights of journalists. Participants discussed the provisions of the federal media safety law and shared their support for the Commission’s formation including by filing a petition in the Peshawar High Court.
