APNS condemns attack, attempted kidnapping of journalist’s son in Lahore

The All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) condemned the attack and attempted kidnapping of  Editor Reporting of Daily Khabrain, Talal Ishtiaq’s young son by unidentified assailants in Valencia Town, Lahore. The family also received threatening phone calls warning of serious consequences.

APNS President Senator Sarmad Ali and Mohammad Ather Kazi expressed their concerns, describing the event as an attack on press freedom and an attempt to intimidate and silence journalism.

APNS called on the Punjab government and law enforcement agencies to register an First Information Report (FIR), arrest those responsible and provide security to Ishtiaq and his family.  APNS expressed solidarity with Ishtiaq and the wider journalistic community.
