APNS expresses gratitude to Sindh govt over GST removal

KARACHI: The APNS has expressed its gratitude to the Sindh govt for withdrawal of the proposed General Sales Tax on advertisements of newspapers on request of the APNS.

Sarmad Ali, Secretary General, APNS, has stated that a delegation of the APNS had requested Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Chief Minister Sindh and Information Minister Sharjil Memon to exempt the newspaper industry from the levy of GST in line with other provinces. The office-bearers and members of the APNS are grateful to the Sindh government for acceding to the request and issuing the exemption notification which would help the print media to brave the financial crunch.

The APNS stated that the member (Legal and Cord), Sindh Revenue Board Government of Sindh vide S.R.B. Leg (1)/ 2011 dated July 1, 2011 has exempted the advertisements in newspapers and periodicals from the GST. The notification is available on the APNS website and can be downloaded.
