KARACHI (PR)-The Executive Newspapers Society (APNS) has unanimously suspended daily Khabrain as it found that the management of this news paper is Prima facie guilty of miss conduct by providing fake, false and forged NOCs to mislead the society.
APNS Secretary-General Muhammad Aslam Kazi has announced that the Executive Com-mittee of the All Pakistan News-papers Society at its meeting held on November 15 under the chair-man ship of its President Arif Nizami as adopted a resolution on the reported conduct of daily Khabrain wherein it produced misleading documents during the conduct of an enquiry into a previous violation. The Executive Committee was of the considered opinion that the act of daily Khabrain is tantamount to tarnish the image of the Society in the eyes of its accredited agencies in particular and the news-paper industry in general. The Executive Committee, therefore, decided to take action against the publication under Article 12(b) read with Article 15 and suspended daily Khabrain with immediate effect. The Executive Committee directed the Secretary General to issue a show-cause notice to the publication to explain its position vis-a-vis the above-mentioned breach of discipline and show-cause as to why its suspension should not be continued and why it should not recommend to the General Body to terminate the membership of daily Khabrain.
The Executive Committee considered the report of Scrutiny-cum-Enrollment Committee and accorded full membership to daily Kainat, Karachi and daily
Kohistan International,Quetta.
The Executive also suspended following publications on default of providing complementary copies as required by the Constitution of the Society:
Daily Baakhabar Quetta, daily Mohasib Abbottabad, daily Maidan Peshawar, daily Sindh Hyderabad, daily The Mirror Hyderabad, daily Wifaq Rawalpindi, daily Wifaq Sargodha, Monthly Aqdar Karachi, monthly Duniya-e-Tib Karachi, monthly Neya Rukh Karachi.
The Executive Committee considered the complaint of daily Ausaf wherein it was reported that the PID was not releasing advertisements to certain publications owing to the editorial policy of these newspapers. It was noted that the Sindh Information Department has not paid the long-outstanding dues of member publications despite various assurances. Daily Financial Post stated that the policy of releasing ads to publications was unjust and the department has failed to ensure equitable distribution of provincial government ads. The Executive Committee advised the Secretary-General to take up the issues with the all-thorities concerned.
