Karachi: Media personnel on Wednesday evening boycotted an event held in the honour of South Asian’s fastest female sprinter Naseem Hamid, citing her late arrival at the venue as the reason.

The gathering which was organised by a local NGO, Karachi Welfare Citizens Organisation was attended by Sindh Minister for Women Development Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto, Sindh Minister for Human Rights Nadia Gabol, Barrister Shahida Jameel and others who arrived on time in hope to meet the young woman.

However, Hamid arrived at the event two hours late, irking journalists who decided to boycott her coverage. By the time she arrived, Gabol and Jameel had already left. A fuming Hamid was then seen talking to the representatives of the organisation only as the media ignored her.

Jameel said that she was disappointed by the attitude of such national heroes who do not observe moral values and are not punctual.
