
Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq expressed deep sorrow over the demise of senior journalist Shahbaz Khan, popularly known as Shahbaz Bhatti, who passed away after a prolonged illness on April 1.
In his condolence message, the Speaker paid tribute to the late journalist’s contributions to the field of journalism, stating that his services would be remembered for a long time. He extended condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul as well as for strength and patience for the family.
Shahbaz Bhatti had been serving as senior news editor at The Nation, Islamabad, and remained associated with the publication for over three decades. He passed away at a local hospital following a long illness.
Throughout his career, he was known for his professionalism, editorial integrity, and dedication to journalistic standards. He was also regarded as a mentor to young journalists and held in high esteem within media circles.
He is survived by his wife, a son, and two daughters. His funeral prayers were scheduled to be held on April 2 at a local graveyard.
The editor, management, and staff of The Nation and its sister publication Nawa-i-Waqt expressed grief over his passing and extended their condolences to the family, praying for his eternal peace.
