On September 25, Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari announced that she will pursue legal action against anchorperson Mubashir Luqman and YouTuber Naeem Hanif, accusing them of defamation.
The controversy arose from a program aired on RNN TV, where Luqman and Hanif questioned Bukhari’s statements regarding Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s foreign visits, including a recent trip to Japan. The discussion also touched on the provincial government’s relief work during floods.
Responding the same day, Bokhari said she would not let the matter pass unchallenged. “I will also move the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) for action against both of them under the PECA,” she said in a statement.
