Rich tributes were paid to the memory of journalist Ashraf Hashmi at an obituary reference held on Tuesday at Pakistan Academy of Letters.

His colleagues and friends remembered him as a daring journalist who spent his entire professional life protecting the sanctity of the written word and human dignity. Senator Mushahid Hussain and others recalled on the occasion a number of front page stories Ashraf Hashmi had written. To keep the memory of his love for the book alive, Mrs Hashmi donated a set of books to principal of local college.
