Karachi: The portrayal of serious social and political realities in prose and poetry requires employment of creative skills and there are very few young poets and writers doing this job successfully.
These views were expressed by the noted writer and poet, Shamshirul Haideri, who presided over a function at the Karachi Press Club (KPC) where two books by Muhammad Aslam Bhutto were launched.
Shamshirul Haideri, sharing his literary and creative experiences said, “In literature, the production of dense collections does not matter and instead what matters is the force of creativity. Hence, the youth who are writing in Sindhi, Urdu, or any other regional language, must take into account and value the actual factor of creativity.” He further argued that writing a news report was rather easy as it presented simple facts, but creation of a story or poem that contained social and political issues as well needed the perception of technicalities was rather difficult.
He appreciated Muhammad Aslam Bhutto for his prose and poetry presented in his collection, titled Hugga and Olakko, launched at the KPC by the KPC Library Committee.
Haideri noted that Bhutto had the required skills and dedication and could come up with powerful poetry with a mystical touch as it was very clear that the poetry of Hazrat Shah Latif had inspired him to a great extent.
“However, he must pay full attention to give better and technically sound books in future,” Haideri advised Bhutto.
