Pakistan Press Foundation

On June 14, Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa claimed he was a more senior journalist than those covering the Supreme Court, citing several articles he authored, including those published in Dawn. This claim was made during a swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected Press Association of the Supreme Court (PAS).

The ceremony was attended by Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan, and Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan.

“I will take this remark in good humor rather than a criticism,” the top judge was quoted saying, “We should always hurry in doing good deeds.”

Chief Justice Isa described court reporting as a tough task.

He cited the book “First You Write a Sentence” by Joe Moran, emphasizing its lessons for journalists, lawyers, and judges.

The CJP also showed journalists copies of Daily Dawn featuring his articles, such as “Quaid at the Bar” from December 25, 1987, and “Rascality of the British.” Additionally, he mentioned his book, “Mass Media Laws and Regulations,” published in 1997 with commentary by Javed Jabbar.
