ISLAMABAD: Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) organised a one-day workshop for economic journalists, here on Saturday.
As many as 27 journalists from different newspapers and TV channels attended the workshop. Giving presentation, Regional Director Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute for Science and Technology, Asad Hussain stressed the need for having follow-up of the budget issues throughout the year by economic reporters.
The topics included calculation of GDP and inflation and relationship between CPI and WPI. He also helped journalists understand comparisons of budget figures in the last few years.
Journalists agreed that the major focus of their stories in the next budget will be on energy, water and food security. They were also interested in preparing analysis of the status of Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), revenue figures, government spending and borrowing. Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) is a non-profit affiliate of US Chamber of Commerce and was represented by Hammad Siddiqui, Senior Programme Manager.
