ISLAMABAD — The women from rural areas are not only facing plethora of difficulties in getting education but also in acquiring proper jobs, despite securing distinctions in academic career.
One such tale of Nadia Bashir hailing from far flung area of Southern Punjab (Kacha Razi, Ddistrict Rajan Pur) is not much different from other poor rustic girls who has to confront number of challenges in society as despite having all relevant degrees with outstanding marks she could not get job anywhere.
“Perhaps, I don’t have proper recommendation of bigwigs though I left no stone unturned to get employment by legal means,” Nadia an outstanding student told The Nation.
“I used to think that after passing with excellent marks I would be able to get job in my relevant field,” Nadia said while adding that she never knew how gigantic task it was.
Talking about her education career, she said that she secured 702 /850 marks in Matriculation despite having little facilities in the rural areas. “I did Matriculation from Aqsa Model High School Sadiq abad securing outstanding marks in my school,” she said.
She was of the view that most of the women in her area did not study because they were pessimistic to get any proper job after the completion of their studies. “I want to prove that they are not true on their stance and will get proper job after having qualification,Â’” Nadia said in a confident manner.
Despite having meagre resources she did FSc from MTB higher Secondary School and got high first division with 748/11 marks. “Keeping in mind that she would find good job, she did BSC Computer System Engineering and secured 4244/5450 marks,” she said.
“Being confident”, she said, “I applied in different organisations to secure some job but unfortunately no organisation called me for the job yet. Nadia said that getting education with limited resources was much difficult for her as price hike, sick social values etc always convinced her to leave the education.
“Having commitment with myself, I continued my education but now I have started realizing that merit is not the last thing to get job,” Nadia commented. “I have applied in Fatima Fertilizer Sadiqabad, Higher Education Commission (HEC) Punjab, Planning and Development Department (Punjab) but received no proper response.
Appealing to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Nadia Bashir said that Chief Minister always talked about the merit and preferred to facilitate genuine degree holders. “It is my request to CM Punjab to help me getting a proper job keeping in view my academic background”. She maintained.
