Condolence reference in memory of Inqilab Matri

KARACHI: A condolence reference in the memory of late Inqilab Matri was held here on Monday under the auspices of council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE)in which the CPNE Secretary General Aamer Mehmood announced annual Inqilab Matri Award to be given by CPNE to the journalists.

Speaking to the gathering Amer Mahmood paid glowing tribute to Inqilab Matri for his efforts for the freedom of press. He said that CPNE would continue to play its historical role in the struggle for the1independence of press.

CPNE considers blockage of advertisement of any newspaper due to its editorial policy as curb on freedom of press and it would be opposed at every level, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jabbar Khattak said that Iqbal Matri had never become a part of immoral activities against any individual or set up despite being targeted by unhealthy business tussle.

He was the pioneer of novelty in Karachi The names of his newspapers such as Millat, Hurriyat, Leader and Public reflect his way of thinking. “Inqilab Matri ranks among the people who sacrifice them selves to the total interest,”

Straight forward and dauntless, Mahmood said CPNE Sindh Vice President Ilyas Shakir said in his address that Millat Group of newspaper had sustained irreparable loss due to unhealthy activities of certain elements, but Inqilab continued with his mission with high spirits.

CPNE Joint Secretary Javed Mehr Shamsi, Mushtaq Qureshi, Anwar Farooqi, Dr Waqar Yousuf Azeemi, Mukhtar Aawil, Younus Riaz, Naseer Hashmi, Qazi Asad Abid, Shumaila Daood and others also addressed the audience.
