On May 6, the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) constituted its Free Media Committee for the year 2025-26. According to a statement issued by the CPNE, Irshad Arif has been appointed as chairman of the committee, and Ejaz Haider of Daily Express as deputy chairman.
The committee comprises Aamir Mehmood representing Sindh, Anwar Sajdi from Balochistan, Ayaz Khan from Punjab, Tahir Farooq from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Yahya Khan Sadozai representing Islamabad.
CPNE President Kazim Khan and Secretary General Ghulam Nabi Chandio will serve as ex-officio members of the committee.
On May 3, CPNE elected its new office bearers for the 2025-26 term. Kazim Khan of Daily Dunya has been elected as President of CPNE, while Ghulam Nabi Chandio of Daily Pak has assumed the role of Secretary General.
