Cultural performances presented for Turkish delegates

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on Tuesday enthralled the visiting Turkish delegates with a cultural show presenting different cultural and traditional aspects of Pakistan.

The four-member delegation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Turkey, visited the PNCA and the National Art Gallery to get the taste of the cultural glimpses of Pakistan.

The show brought Sufi spiritual performances and regional dances of Pakistan by members of the National Performing Arts Group (NPAG).

The performers were attired in vibrant traditional costumes and conventional jewellery belonging to different provinces to entertain the visiting delegates and promote the soft image of the country.

The delegation showed keen interest in the contemporary art reflecting the modern and contemporary face of Pakistan, paintings of renowned personalities of the country, including Sadeqain, and other artists at the National Art Gallery.

Speaking on the occasion PNCA Director General Tauqeer Nasir said that exchange of such visits by delegates would help strengthen people-to-people contacts between both the countries and cement their social and cultural relations.

He added that Pakistan has an asset of rich culture and traditions, which should be highlighted at international level to promote the soft image of the country. Tauqeer Nasir said that the PNCA had made documentaries on various performing arts of the country to capture and showcase the rich cultural heritage of Pakistan in its true form.
