On January 20, a reporter for the Daily Aflak newspaper, Jameel Gujar, was killed in Phool Nagar, Kasur district of Punjab, after being attacked with a knife following an earlier dispute involving his son.

According to police, an altercation took place in the morning between the suspect, Sajid, and the journalist’s son. Police stated that later the same day, the suspect allegedly assaulted Jameel Gujar with a knife, causing fatal injuries.

A case was subsequently registered on the complaint of the victim’s widow. Police later arrested the suspect as part of their ongoing investigation.
