KARACHI: The experts of mass communication have urged the media professionals working in the country to show their responsibility while performing their jobs so that a sense of participation could be developed among the masses.
The media can play its due role to get control over the emerging menace of extremism in the country, they said while speaking at a seminar on ‘The Effects of Disasters on Media Men’, held on Friday, organised by Awaaz Institute of Media Sciences (AIMS) at its campus. Prof Dr Ahmed Ali Khan underlined the importance of proper specialized training for every media professional belonging to print or electronic media, and said that a professional journalist could play pivotal role in any tough situation. Lord Dr Shaukat Khan (London) highlighted the positive attributes of the British Media in his lecture, and urged Pakistani media professionals to have power over their profession as use of modern techniques in the said profession is the need of the hour.
Awaaz Institute of Media Sciences Director Dr Shamsuddin, senior faculty members including Prof Inam Bari were also present on the occasion. However, the students of the institute showed great interest in the informative lectures. In the end, the guests visited the first dedicated Media Institute and applauded the efforts of AIMS team for establishing the state-of-art institute, having an equipped laboratory, monitoring cell, studio and skilled faculty.
