ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari removed Senator Faisal Raza Abidi, his adviser on the affairs of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), on Saturday.
According to reports, Mr Abidi has been relieved of the additional assignment because of his mishandling of the issue between the PIA employees and its management.
The national flag carrier suffered a huge financial loss during the four-day strike observed by its employees that ended on Friday with the resignation of the PIA’s managing director.
President’s spokesman Farhatullah Babar told Dawn that “Senator Abidi has resigned on his own from the additional responsibilities of looking after the political affairs of PIA”.
He said the senator, however, would continue to work in the political affairs section of the PPP’s co-chairman and as adviser to the president.
