Family Accuses PPP MNA of Ordering Journalist Nasrullah Gadani’s Murder in Mirpur Mathelo

Pakistan Press Foundation

The family of slain journalist Nasrullah Gadani has accused Khalid Khan Loond, a Member of National Assembly (MNA) from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and his two sons, of orchestrating Gadani’s murder. These allegations surfaced during statements recorded under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code in a Mirpur Mathelo court.

The complainant, Pathani Gadani, mother of the deceased, accompanied by witnesses Yaqoub Gadani and Salahuddin Gadani, claimed in court that the powerful political figures had not only masterminded Nasrullah’s murder but also influenced the police to exclude their names from the FIR. The family, represented by Advocate Salahuddin Panhwar, appealed for justice and the lawful prosecution of the real perpetrators.

Gadani, a Sindhi-language daily Awami Awaz correspondent, was known for his critical reporting. He was fatally shot by armed assailants near his hometown Mirpur Mathelo on May 21 and succumbed to his injuries on May 24 in a Karachi hospital.

On June 8, Ghotki Police announced a significant breakthrough in the investigation, arresting Asghar Loond, son of Hoat Loond and one of the three main suspects. During the arrest, authorities recovered a weapon, a motorcycle, and three mobile phones directly linked to the crime. Asghar’s brothers, Barkat and Abdullah Loond, have been declared absconders, intensifying the manhunt for them.
