Reporters covering parliamentary activities staged a walkout from the National Assembly’s Press Gallery, voicing fears over their safety and working environment in Parliament House. Addressing the protesting journalists, Tarar, accompanied by Press Information Officer Mubashir Hassan, assured them of the government’s commitment to resolving their issues. He highlighted the government’s strong relationship with the media and commended the Parliamentary Reporters’ Association (PRA) for defending press freedom.

Tarar tackled specific concerns raised by the journalists, including coordination issues related to budget books and delays in salary payments. He promised that these problems would be addressed promptly and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to safeguarding the rights of journalists and media workers.

The minister announced that the government would conduct meetings with provincial administrations to investigate journalist murders and develop a protection mechanism in collaboration with provincial information ministers. Additionally, ongoing discussions with journalist organizations concerning defamation laws were confirmed, emphasizing the crucial role of these organizations in resolving such issues.

He confirmed that the matter would be resolved by contacting the National Assembly Secretariat. He assured journalists that the Ministry of Information’s doors were always open and affirmed his support for them.
