On December 9, five individuals, including a former accounts manager of the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) and his son, were arrested after their interim bail was dismissed by the Special Judge of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Court, Hamayoun Dilawar. The FIA initiated the case, accusing the suspects of facilitating unauthorized appointments causing significant financial losses to the organization and undermining transparency in recruitment.

The accused include former Manager Accounts Arshad Majeed, his son Taimoor Arshad, along with Saad Yousaf, Qaiser Javed, and Fawad Khan.

During the hearing, Investigation Officer Ehtesham Gondal opposed the pre-arrest bail petitions, asserting that the FIA had gathered sufficient evidence to substantiate the charges. After examining the arguments, the court dismissed the bail pleas and ordered the arrest of the accused.

Advocate Hussnain Haider Thaheem, representing APPpresented detailed evidence to the court, highlighting the pivotal role of Arshad Majeed in enabling the disbursement of salaries to 20 individuals appointed without proper documentation.

An earlier First Information Report (FIR) had been registered against 20 individuals allegedly involved in the scam allegedly using fake signatures and receiving bribes.
