LAHORE: Senior writer, American Journalism Review, Sherry Richardi and former deputy managing editor for photography of USA Today Frank Folwell visited South Asia Free Media Association (Safma) secretariat on Friday. Speaking on the occasion Sherry Richardi and Frank Folwell appreciated the Pakistani journalists who were performing their duties in difficult circumstances.
While sharing their experience of their visit to the mass communication department of a private university, they said that it was well equipped. They also talked about the media ethics especially when the journalists were reporting in the war area, areas hit by natural disasters and crime reporting. They said that the journalists working in these areas require especial training. They also said that photo journalism is also a very technical field and it requires proper training.
Senior journalist Hussain Naqi, former president Punjab Union of Journalists Jalil Hassan Akhtar, former president Lahore Press Club Moeen Azhar and General Secretary Safma Punjab Anjum Rasheed were present on the occasion. General Secretary Safma Imtiaz Alam briefed the guests about the working of the organisation as well as the school of media being run by the organisation.
