HYDERABAD: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) launched here on Sunday four Sindhi books to create awareness among people about their fundamental rights.
The launching ceremony was performed by noted leftist leader Jam Saqi. The books are: “Jabri Gumshudgi” (Enforced Disappearance), “Nasli Taassubbat” (Racial Prejudices), “Insani Haqan Jo Nizam” (Human Rights System) and “Bunyadi Haq Aeen Freedom” (Fundamental Rights and Freedom).
Jam Saqi said no real change could take place in the society without awareness about human rights was created at the grassroots level.
He said all human rights conventions and agreements should be incorporated into the constitution and implemented in letter and spirit.
Rights activists Ms Raana Siddiqui, Ms Tabbasum, Suresh Rajani, Shamsher Ali, Ashu Thama and Fazal Kadir also spoke on the occasion.
They said that a determined struggle was needed to make the masses aware of their rights.
They hoped the books would go a long way in creating such an awakening.
They said the book on enforced disappearance had been launched at the most appropriate time because of the situation in Balochistan and Sindh.
They said the ongoing ‘silent operation’ in the two provinces should open people’s eyes.
They said book provides guidelines and stressed the need for translating these books into other provincial languages.
