Journalism Training Programmes for Women
The Journalism Training Programmes for Women aims at imparting skills to educated women to write for the newspapers and magazines so that they may be able to project their viewpoints through the national and local media. This programme, includes training in news writing, article writing, writing letter to the editor, ethics of journalism, maintaining reference records and other related subjects. Every part of the programme is followed by practical exercises and discussions. PPF maintains contact with participants and provides them professional advice for publication of articles written by them.
Gender in Journalism Awards
In 2003 PPF, with the support of United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), established the annual Gender in Journalism Awards to encourage excellence in coverage of gender issues and recognise the contributions of women in journalism. One award is for excellence in gender sensitive reporting open to both male and female journalists recognises models of excellence and best practices in coverage of gender related issues. The second award is for outstanding coverage of any issue by a female journalist. The award recognises the competence and contributions to journalism of women who are role models to women entering or planning to enter the profession.
