KARACHI: The Jang group of news organisations has said the statistics presented at a National Assembly session last week about non-payment of General Sales Tax (GST) by Geo TV are exaggerated and contrary to facts.

In a statement, a spokesman for Geo/Jang said the Jang group had already taken recourse to an apex court on the unjustifiable demand of the GST and a constitutional petition was pending in Sindh High Court.

The spokesman said the court was yet to announce its verdict, but had issued a stay order, restraining the government from taking any action against the group until a final verdict was delivered.

Geo was not a defaulter as alleged by the government, the spokesman claimed, adding that it was being targeted for its anti-government stance.
