Gilgit peace jirga to form women’s wing

GILGIT, June 9 2006: The Grand Peace Jirga, headed by Northern Areas Legislative Council Speaker Malik Mohammad Miskeen, will set up a women’s wing to accelerate efforts to maintain sectarian peace in the area. The decision was taken by the NALC speaker during a meeting with a women’s delegation, led by the Pakistan Muslim League’s local leader Dilshad Bano.

Mr Miskeen told the delegation that maximum participation of womenfolk in maintaining peace in the Northern Areas would be ensured.
