HARIPUR, July 18: A 17-year-old girl in her statement in the court of judicial magistrate on Wednesday accused her maternal uncle and two other people of kidnapping and repeatedly molesting her.
Samia Naz, daughter of Mohammad Ibrahim, of Kangra Colony had been recovered on July 14 from a locked house in the Bagra village after 55 days.
She told the court of Haripur judicial magistrate Hina Khan that she was going to the Computer College in Model Town, Kangra, for taking examinations, when her maternal uncle offered her lift in a van. “The moment I entered the van he put a handkerchief on my mouth and I fell unconscious”, she said. When she gained senses, she said, she found herself in a room where she was molested for five to six days.
Later, she said, her uncle handed her over to Babar Qureshi who took her to Islamabad. She said the man repeatedly raped her and later gave her to his servant whose name was also Babar. He too molested her for many days and kept on shifting her from place to place and later he forced her to have nikah with him.
Talking to Dawn at the District Headquarters Hospital, Haripur, where she had been brought to provide her treatment for fits, the girl said she had boarded the van because she knew the person offering her lift was her maternal uncle, but she did not know of his designs.
She said Babar, the servant of Babar Qureshi, had taken her to the office of a lawyer in Abbottabd and forced her to sign the nikah nama without producing her in a court. She said the two witnesses were the brothers of the accused. She demanded punishment to the accused.
The Kotnajibullah police said the medical report confirmed that the girl was not virgin, but her pregnancy report was negative.
Police have registered a case against the accused under section 365B, CrPC, but have not made any arrest.
Local NGOs, including the Human Development Organization, Rural Development Project and the Sustainable Development Vision, at a meeting held here condemned the incident and urged the DPO of Haripur to bring the accused to book.
