On March 25, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi received a briefing at the Governor House on the restoration and operational status of Radio Pakistan Peshawar.

Tufail Ahmad, Station Director of Radio Pakistan Peshawar, with Senior Producer Sardar Azam Khan, provided insights into the station’s rich history and current operations.

Established on March 6, 1935, Radio Pakistan Peshawar was broadcasting from the Civil Secretariat and from April 28, 1985, the station was broadcast from the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Peshawar and covers a broad range of content in multiple languages, reflecting the region’s diverse cultural tapestry. The station’s reach extends to remote areas and across the border into Afghanistan.

The Governor was updated on the station’s recent restoration following considerable damage during an incident on May 9, 2023. The restoration was completed in January 2026, the Governor was informed. Governor Kundi praised the restoration work and emphasized the necessity of modernizing the station to meet digital age requirements and appeal to younger audiences. He advocated for enhanced broadcast quality and greater emphasis on regional languages and cultural promotion.
