Govt striving for women’s Uplift

KARACHI, June 02 2006: Government has realized that women should be provided better opportunities to work in the fields of their own choice. That can only be achieved after women empowerment is ensured. Keeping in view the same, the present government is giving top priority to the subject. There were 60 women representatives in the national assembly and more than twenty women in Senate.

An energetic and dynamic leader, head the Provincial Women Development Depart­ment. Saeeda Malik, under here capable leadership, WDD is adopting numerous concrete steps for the betterment of women, which include formula­tion, implementation, monitor­ing and coordination of all de­velopment schemes.

The Women Development. Department is also playing vital role to highlight the plight of women in the province. Their problems are being brought into notice ‘of higher authorities through seminars, workshops and by other means. Dr Saeeda Malik is taking keen interest to implement the schemes and projects the hectic visits of sites besides giving maximum time for personal hearing to women and enquiring their problems during tour of the province. Her commitment to resolve the problem of women will defi­nitely enhance the living stand­ard of families particularly women in Sindh. The women development has seven ongoing ADP Government of Sindh projects in the province, which comprises.

Project for imparting training workshop for women at district level establishment of sales and display resource centre at Karachi, establishment of day care centre at Karachi; Baby Child Care Training Centre at Day Care Centre at Karachi; Women Com­plaint Centre at Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana. Establishment of medi­cal cell at Karachi and imple­mentation of gender reforms act­ing plan Sindh.

Project imparting training workshop for women at district level at a cost of Rs3.435 million aims at improving condition of women by supplementing in­come through training in income generating activities provided to the 60 women of each district. Establishment of sales and dis­play resources centre at Karachi at cost of Rsl4 million which aims at socio economic development of women of economically back­ward areas of Sindh by promot­ing and encouraging their skills and by providing them direct access to the market without be­ing exploited by middle man.
