ISLAMABAD: The government will present a resolution for the establishment of a new province, Saraiki Wasaib consisting of southern districts of Punjab, in the next session of the National Assembly.
Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani will lead the move. He will hold discussions with leaders of the ruling coalition and subsequently an effort would be made to develop understanding with the leaders of the opposition parties as well. National Assembly deputy speaker Faisal Karim Kundi has urged the premier to include Saraiki-speaking districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the proposed resolution for creating a new province.
Sources said the ruling PPP had outlined its plan of action for the next general elections. It is believed that the PPP would be ready for the elections before the start of next Ramazan and the province of Saraiki would be the part of the next manifesto of the PPP.
