Hameed Nizami fought for democratic principles

LAHORE – Speakers at a seminar while paying rich tributes to late Hameed Nizami for his services to journalism said that he fought for the democratic principles in his entire life.

Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa, Mujeebur Rehman Shami, senior journalist and columnist, Liaquat Baloch, secretary general JI, Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi, senior columnist and others expressed these views while addressing a seminar held in connection with the remembrance of Hameed Nizami on Sunday.

Punjab Governor Latif Khosa while lauding the efforts of Hameed Nizami for journalism said that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was inspired by the thoughts of Hameed Nizami and was an admirer of his efforts to strengthen democracy. He said that Hameed Nizami confronted the British rule and the narrow-minded Hindus.

Khosa also appreciated the efforts of Hameed Nizami against dictatorship and said that time had come to follow the politics of reconciliation in order to transform the country into Quaid’s and Nizami’s Pakistan.

Mujeebur Rehman Shami said that Hameed Nizami through hard work and commitment made himself famous and stood with the major players of the Pakistan Movement.

He said that Nizami had always fought for democracy and democratic principles. He said that this nation needs a qualitative change to get back on track to the Pakistan that Hameed Nizami had dreamt.

“We should follow the ideology, which the founder and his colleagues had given us.” He stressed that Pakistan must fight back and nourish democracy for the betterment of the entire nation.

JI secretary general Liaqat Baloch said that Hameed Niazmi was a symbol of struggle and determination and was an ‘icon of democracy’.

He said that Nawa-i-Waqt had always stood with the issues related to the common man. He said that Nizami truly defined the power of the pen. “He had always proved his ideology with reasoning and stood firm on it.

He was a man of flawless analysing skills and always stood beside the two-nation theory.” Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi said that Hameed Nizami was an extraordinary person and not a typical journalist. He said that Nizami always struggled for the principles his entire life and never bowed down before any pressure.

Onaza Ahsan, former MNA, said that Hameed Nizami was not only a name of a journalist but was a name of an ideology. She said that Nizami had stood by great leaders like Quaid-i-Azam in achieving the dream of a separate homeland for Muslims of the sub-continent.
