LAHORE, June 15: The hearing of a petition for release of The Frontier Post proprietor-editor Rehmat Shah Afridi’s car on supardari (custody) was adjourned for July 6 on the prosecution’s request.
Appearing for the petitioner, Advocate Latif Khan Khosa submitted before a division bench comprising Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry and Zafar Pasha Chaudhry that the Mercedes car was bought by Mr. Afridi in 1983 and sold by him to his publishing concern in 1988 and was the daily’s property when seized in April 1999.
He said Mr. Afridi was being victimized for cooperating with a BBC film on the phenomenal growth of the Sharif family’s industrial empire.
