The Higher Education Commission (HEC) denied claims of a security breach in its database, following rumours on social media suggesting sensitive information had been compromised. The commission assured the public that its degree verification systems remain secure after its Cyber Security Operations Centre conducted an investigation.

In a statement released by the HEC, the commission refuted the authenticity of the records circulated online, stating they do not correlate with any data held within the HEC’s systems. The investigation concluded that the alleged leaked records were not from the HEC’s degree attestation or verification databases, dismissing the claims as baseless and misleading.

The HEC also cautioned the public against spreading unverified and misleading information that could cause unnecessary confusion.
