HYDERABAD: A leader of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) and chairman of managing committee of Sindh Bar Council, Fazal Qadir Momon has said that the year 2007 proved to be worst with increase of human rights violations by state.

In a statement issued here on Monday, Memon said that on 9th March Chief Justice of Pakistan was removed under illegal and unconstitutional reference by President General Musharraf. On 12 May he was blocked entry to Karachi city and was sent back from airport after detaining him for 8 hours.

On that very day the President celebrated blood of innocent people which was shed in Karachi streets. He said during the struggle for restoration of CJP and again against emergency hundreds of lawyers, political workers and representatives of civil society was targeted to violence, torture and arrested.
Few lost lives. He said the TV channels which were providing true information to people were closed down and country was ruled through unconstitutional ordinance by one man who wanted to cling to power under hook or crook. He said in name of Islam, innocent children were butchered in Islamabad and hundreds disappeared forcibly.

Now the crises of flour and sugar cane have been created artificially to further suppress the voice of people. He made appeal to civil society and human rights organizations to join hands with people of Pakistan to get rid of injustices and atrocities let loose by one man.
