Information technology is critical for the progress and prosperity of any nation, Sindh Caretaker Minister for Information Technology, Environment, Alternative Energy, Mines and Mineral Development Jam Karam Ali said Sunday.

He was addressing the concluding ceremony of the two-day “International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies (ICICT)” at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA). Ali said that information technology was being introduced in every sphere of life in Pakistan and he hoped that the conference would help find solutions for the need of the fast-growing economy of the country.

The objective of the ICICT was to bring together business and technology researches to face the modern challenges of a complex society is indeed laudable, the minister said.

He referred to the Pakistan’s progress in the cellphone industry, and said that this growth needs to be seen as a model for other sectors to emulate.
