Mobile and internet services across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have remained suspended since September 28, with the blackout expected to continue until at least October 4, amid mounting political unrest.
The disruption follows violent clashes during a protest called by the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC), which has long pressed authorities to meet its charter of demands. The demonstration, initially declared peaceful, turned violent when rival groups confronted each other, leaving at least one person dead and several others — including a police officer — injured. Each side has since blamed the other for inciting unrest.
