The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced on November 15 that mobile internet and telecommunication services have been suspended in multiple districts of Balochistan. The suspension is in response to a series of escalating terrorist attacks across Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“The general public is hereby informed that under the directives of authorized departments, mobile internet services have been temporarily suspended in certain areas of Balochistan,” the PTA said in a public statement.

The PTA’s announcement did not detail the specific areas affected, but reports from local sources point to widespread disruptions in regions including Makran, Awaran, Chagai, Kharan, parts of Khuzdar, Kalat, Bolan, Harnai, and Duki.

Balochistan has endured more than 70 fatalities from terrorist attacks over the past three months. Among the deadliest incidents was the November 9 suicide bombing at Quetta Railway Station, which claimed 26 lives and left 62 others injured. The province has also witnessed other attacks, such as bomb blasts near schools and assaults targeting civilians and security forces.

“To ensure public safety and security, the mobile and internet services are suspended,” PTA officials reiterated, stressing the temporary nature of the shutdown. The authority assured the public that the suspension would be lifted as soon as the situation stabilizes.
