ISLAMABAD- A public sector Internet Service Provider, the Comsats, has announced a substantial reduction in its tariff structure, lowering the regular dial up nearly 30 percent, and announcing plans for pre-paid internet card.

Comsats that stands for Commission for Science and Technology for Sustainable development, has also introduced a service for bulk users that gives them unlimited access for 30 days against the advanced payment of Rs 1,399.

This package seems to be a test-feeler as the announcement said it was available for a limited period for subscription.

There are a number of other ISPs, like “Hangama” and “net2net” that charge much lesser rates for their unlimited access services.

The tariff reduces the per hour rates for users during time zone of 9 am to 7 pm from Rs 27 to Rs 20 and from 7 pm to 9 am to Rs 10. The latter use to cost Rs 15 previously.

The whole of Sunday will be charged at Rs 10. However, it was not known if this rate will be applicable on public holidays also as was in vogue so far.

A flat rate available to users 24 hours will be at Rs 18 per hour while the late night users will pay Rs 5 for access between 1 am to 8 am. Another package providing unlimited access during the same time zone has been priced at Rs 250 per month.
