ISLAMABAD: The military has termed as speculative media reports which claimed that corps commanders have evolved a consensus that Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez KayaniÂ’s tenure should be extended.
When asked about a news item published in The News on Monday headlined ‘Commanders want extension for Gen Kayani’, Director-General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major-General Athar Abbas inquired if the news item had quoted any specific official source and said, “I cannot comment on any news item which does not quote any specific official source.”
