IT Minister Khawaja and Tech Leaders Discuss Digitalization, Responsible Use of Social Media

On May 2,  Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja held a virtual congregation with key stakeholders from the Asia Internet Coalition (AIC), anchored by its Managing Director Jeff Paine.

The dialogue covered extensive discussions on digitalization, the responsible use of social media, digital rights, and e-safety. Key participants from the AIC included major global digital entities such as Facebook, Google, Apple, Amazon, X, Yahoo, and LinkedIn.

Minister Khawaja emphasized the government’s dedication to the country’s digital transformation, which aligns with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of bolstering the private sector. She highlighted ongoing initiatives, including the imminent launch of a Public-Private dialogue platform and various policy developments aimed at enhancing digital skills among the youth.

The meeting, also attended by Additional Secretary MoITT Aisha Humera Moriani, Member IT Syed Junaid Imam, and  Member Telecom Muhammad Jahanzeb Rahim, underscored the necessity of using social media platforms responsibly as part of broader digital and e-safety strategies.
