On April 13, Amjad Aziz Malik, President of the Pakistan Sports Writers Federation, was honoured with Lifetime Honorary Membership by the International Sports Press Association (AIPS). This distinguished accolade was awarded during the 88th AIPS Congress held in Lausanne, Switzerland, attended by delegates from 111 countries.
Amjad Aziz Malik is the first Pakistani journalist to receive this honour in the 102-year history of AIPS, marking a significant milestone for the nation in the realm of sports journalism. The recognition celebrates his personal contributions and underscores Pakistan’s growing stature in international sports media.
Alongside Malik, five other veteran sports journalists from Japan, Spain, Malta, Brazil, and Turkey also received Lifetime Honorary Membership for their extensive services to AIPS and sports journalism.
Throughout his career, Malik has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to sports journalism, significantly contributing to raising the professional standards and visibility of Pakistan in this field. His induction into the AIPS Executive Committee as a Lifetime Honorary Member highlights his exceptional dedication and the respect he commands on the global stage.
The achievement received widespread acclaim within Pakistan. Muhammad Asghar Azeem, Secretary of the Pakistan Sports Writers Federation, expressed immense pride in Malik’s recognition. He noted that this honour reflects the high level of dedication and talent within Pakistan’s sports journalism community.
