KARACHI, June 08 2006: A local journalist, Arz Muhammad Mirani has complained that the police in his hometown Kandhra district Sukkur are trying to implicate him and his family members in a false case. Talking to media persons at Karachi Press Club on May 07, he alleged that the police has arrested four of his family members in a false case that it had registered under pressure of Director Anti-Corruption (Legal) Mir Safdar Talpur and they are being tortured at Kandhra police station. Mirani also accused the Talpurs of illegally occupying his land.

He also distributed copies of a letter of adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Information and Archives that he has sent to the Regional Police Officer, Sukkur in which he has requested to inquire about the complaints and also sought a report about dispute.

According to the letter, Haider said that the chief minister had already ordered an enquiry against the Direcior Anti-Corruption and he believes that it has been handed over to a lower level officer from whom no justice can be expected. In his letter Haider also said that he had also spoke to the DPO Sukkur on telephone and told him that action taken by the SHO Kandhra police station Badar Bhutto was allegedly not in consonance with law.
