A reporter of Aaj TV Sohail Ahmad Kasi was manhandled by police at McConghy road in Quetta, the capital city of Balochistan, a province of Pakistan, on November, 18.
Kasi told PPF that he was standing with a police party at McConghy road, at 6.00 pm, where some police men beat a person who was riding his bike during a blockade. Kasi shoot the scene and after some time some Police men and Kasi, asked them why they were beating him, meanwhile, a police man hit butt of rifle on the Kasi’s shoulder, snatch his camera and destroy the cassette while four police men started beating him. Kasi said they also aimed their guns at him. Some other Police Officers present on the occasion saved him despite of sustained minor injuries, he added.
Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani has taken a serious view of manhandling of Kasi and firing incident in front of Press Club and sustained three policemen involved in it. He ordered CCPO Quetta to probe the matter and submit his report at the earliest.
Balochistan Union of Journalist (BUJ) staged protest demonstration in front of Balochistan Press Club and demanded to take notice against the incident.
