GILGIT, Nov 13: A woman employee of the Karakuram International University, Gilgit, has alleged that she has been sacked from the service as her brother is a journalist and he has reported the malpractice at the KIU.

She alleged that KIU Registrar Arshad Mehmood had earlier warned her brother not to published reports regarding the KIU affairs else his sister would be sacked from the job. 1 “The registrar told me that either stop reporting on KIU affairs or ask your sister not to turn up the next day,” Mehboob Khayam, a local journalist said.

The sacked woman employee termed the act of the registrar victimization.

She is the sister of Gilgit Union of Journalists secretary Mehboob Khayam who is also chief reporter, of a local publishing firm.

When contacted an official of the KIU said that her contract period was over and she was not given any extension in service by the competent authority.
