‘Journalists Society uplift work to be completed on priority’

KARACHI, July 15 2005: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that the development work on Journalists Society at Hawksbay would be completed on priority basis.

The remaining KPC members would also be given plots adjacent to the society land so that they can build their dream houses on it, he said, adding that in future the provincial government would enhance and accommodate new members of the KPC by giving more land.

Speaking at the Karachi Press Club (KPC), while handing over a cheque of grant by the Sindh government here on July 14 he assured that this grant would be made part of the budget and would be provided to the KPC every year.

He said that he would take up the issue of ownership rights of the KPC with President Pervez Musharraf.

He said that the government would fulfill all promises made to the journalists and would not disappoint them.

KPC President Sabihuddin Ghousi while welcoming the governor highlighted the problems being faced by the journalists. KPC Secretary Najeeb Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, the Sindh governor presented the cheque of Rs 5 million to the KPC president.
